We thank all our student members who submitted such outstanding proposals this year.
Please plan to join us at the AATSP conference next summer to listen to our student presenters.
Each student presenter will receive a $300 travel stipend plus paid conference registration courtesy of Sigma Delta Pi and a complimentary awards banquet ticket courtesy of the AATSP (American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese). However, the same student is expected to secure travel-related funding for all remaining expenses through his/her college/university, either via the academic departments, the dean’s or provost’s office, the office of student activities, or other institutional sources. Colleges/universities often provide funding for students presenting at conferences. Sigma Delta Pi is unable to provide monetary support beyond the $300 travel stipend and conference registration per selected student.
For information on the AATSP conference in July 2015, please visit the website: www.aatsp.org. Any questions should be directed to the Executive Director: delmastromp@cofc.edu
The “Best Practices” Session is useful for all our members, both faculty and students alike. Educators are reminded of the importance of empowering our adept student leaders with opportunities to create, organize and execute a wide array of activities that reflect Sigma Delta Pi’s mission. Via the innovation, dedication and efforts of student leaders/officers, Sigma Delta Pi has become much more than a recognition society, a message that is reflected in all student “Best Practices” session. Students who attend this session will be reminded that invaluable leadership opportunities and experiences can be enjoyed simply by working closely and diligently with one’s chapter adviser. Sigma Delta Pi’s faculty advisers at over 600 chapters across the country welcome and urge student collaboration, and employers seek such student activity to distinguish outstanding candidates from competitive applicant pools.
